The Human Experience?

I've recently watched the movie "The Human Experience", where Jeffery Azize and a group of others travel the world in order to help others and gain knowledge of the world's struggles in order to experience them firsthand. They visit several countries through organizations that create opportunities to help children and aid others. What are some organizations that provide opportunities similar to these besides Peace Corps? (I don't have a college degree, so joining them is close to "out of the question")
