My boyfriend has cold sores. How do I avoid getting the virus?

Many, many people have the cold sore virus. Herpes simplex (the cold sore kind) is different than genital herpes. You will get cold sores if you kiss him when he is having an active outbreak. Once you get the virus, it will stay in your body forever. So avoid contact with his mouth if he has a cold sore, and don't let him put his mouth on your private areas. As soon as the cold sore is healed up, you can resume your activities.
