Would a Gary Fisher Mullet be a good XC bike?

Ok, here's the story. I bought a Trek 820 so I could ride to town from my house. I figured out that I love mountain biking and I completely gave up skateboarding to go after biking. As I'm getting more into it, I'm starting to be drawn away from my steel frame bike. I just got back from Ray's in Milwaukee yesterday and rented a Mullet. GOD, I fell in love with that bike. I wanted to race in the WORS next year, but it's a dirt jump and street mountain bike too it says, I already know it could take a beating from firsthand experience.
