Has anyone experienced harm from an epidural?

I had an epidural with my daughter, and nothing was wrong with her. If it wasn't safe for the baby, they wouldn't even offer it. The only thing I didn't like was I was too numb. I had no pain, so can't complain about that, but I also couldn't feel the contractions at all or when to push. The doctor would say "push" and I kept having to ask "am I pushing?" because I couldn't feel anything below the waist, so I wasn't sure. Epidurals are very helpful for the pain(as long as they don't ware off beforehand), but the right dosage is important for delivery. Obviously I was pushing ok because she was out in 3 pushes, but I would've enjoyed it much more if I were able to feel it a little and know when I was having contractions instead of having to go by what everyone else was telling me. I'm currently 12 weeks pregnant with baby number two, and plan to have another one. Maybe this time just not as strong.
